Real Life Center

Each week, we serve an average of 200 clients—and it takes a dedicated team of volunteers to provide the care and dignity every family deserves. From sorting food to walking alongside clients in our pantry and fresh market, every role brings hope. Whether you enjoy connecting with people, working behind the scenes, or sharing your knowledge, there is a place for you on our team.

Volunteers at the Real Life Center are asked to commit to serving once a week during our operating hours: Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, or Thursday evenings from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Once approved to join the Real Life Center Volunteer Team, individuals are added to our weekly schedule based on availability and center needs.
Please note, we are unable to accommodate court-mandated community service hours.

Here are five key volunteer opportunities you can be part of:

Shopping Assistant

From the first smile to the final prayer, Shopping Assistant volunteers make every visit comforting. The Real Life Center is looking for friendly, caring volunteers to help clients shop with dignity, offer a listening ear, and provide prayerful encouragement. This role is perfect for those who enjoy one-on-one interaction, have a heart for service, and want to make a personal impact in someone’s day.

Food Sorter

Behind every food item shared in the RLC Pantry is a careful eye and a caring heart. Food Sorter volunteers inspect every donation—checking dates, seals, and safety—to ensure only the best reaches our pantry shelves. If you love organization and making a quiet but powerful impact, this role is for you.

Car Loader

The last smile Real Life Center clients see before they drive away. Car Loader volunteers load groceries into clients' cars with care and kindness—leaving a lasting impression of dignity, respect, and hope. If you enjoy being active and making people feel valued, this role is a perfect fit.

Shelf Stocker

Behind every stocked shelf is a volunteer who made it possible. Shelf Stocker volunteers work quietly but powerfully—restocking pantry items from the warehouse to ensure every client has a full and dignified shopping experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, is detail-oriented, and takes pride in keeping things organized and running smoothly behind the scenes.

Class Instructor

Do you have a passion for teaching and a heart for helping others grow? Real Life Center Class Instructor volunteers lead educational sessions on topics like finance, mental health, spiritual growth, nutrition, fitness, and more. Whether you teach once or on a regular basis, your knowledge can empower clients to take meaningful steps forward in their lives.
