Stephen Ministry:

Is a program that equips people to provide one-to-one Christian care to those who are facing difficult life circumstances. Times when each of us needs the care of another person, someone who knows and walks with God, someone willing to share God's love with us.

 

Stephen Ministers are committed Christians who...

  • Love God and walk with a person who is hurting
  • Receive 50 hours of initial training in Caring Ministry skills and concepts
  • Are commissioned as Stephen Ministers after completing their initial training
  • Visit another person regularly and dependably, offering Christian support and care
  • Participate in regular support and supervision under the guidance of trained Stephen Leaders
  • Are committed to preserving the confidential nature of the caring relationship
  • Serve for at least two years
  • Receive continuing education and skill building throughout their years of service

Do you have a passion for helping people who are hurting? If so, then the Stephen Ministry might be for you. Stephen Ministers are individuals who work through 50 hours of training in pastoral care and commit to serve the Dogwood congregation for two years.
